DEVO. 05.03.24
"Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.” (James 5:17-18 NLT)
- Here is the prophet Elijah who the Bible says is just “as we are”.
- This may be shocking when you see it but it says that He is just like you and me!
- Not different, He’s the same.
- It’s easy to look at prophets like Elijah and some of the great people in the Bible and think of them as, “special” or different.
- But James clearly says, “as we are”.
- So, what made him different?
- His prayer life!
- His prayer life that was connected to faith! Not faith in what he could do but faith connected to who His God was and what God could do!
- What does your prayer life say about you?
- When Elijah saw difficulties, he prayed.
- But not just when he had difficulties.
- His prayer life was already established so that when difficulties hit, that was his “knee jerk reaction”
- He saw prayer as an opportunity to tap into Gods power.
- To Him, prayer was a privilege.
- Prayer was about seeing what God sees, not what his limited eyesight could see.
- Prayer was about trusting in an unseen God while encountering very visible problems.
- Prayer is about inviting God into the middle of a problem and allowing Him to reveal the solution.
- Elijah prayed!
- That was the difference!
- Today, have you prayed?
- If not, it’s time to start!
- If you pray, it matters and if you don’t pray, it matters!
- Your prayer life is what will set you apart!
- Establish a prayer life today and make it essential so that you don’t go another day without it!
- Have a great Weekend!
