DEVO. 04.14.23

“Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies…” ‭‭(Joshua‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- Are you in need of a miracle?

- Well, we serve a miracle working God!

- Joshua was in need of a miracle.

- He was in a battle with the Amorites.

- The key to victory was knowing what the Lord had already told Joshua.

- Joshua 10:8 says, “The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.””

- ‭‭”I have given”. That means it’s already done.

- He already had the victory before the battle, but he still had to fight.

- Joshua still had to step onto the battlefield with his men.

- Even if the Lord gives the promise, you won’t possess the promise if you aren’t willing to step onto the battlefield.

- And as they fought, Joshua’s faith grew to such a point that he prayed the boldest prayer he could think to pray.

- He said, “Sun stand still”

- I don’t think I would have even thought to have asked that or better yet, believed God would answer.

- But that prayer came out of a life long relationship with the Lord.

- His prayer was in essence saying, “Sun, you are not going to go down until I fully posses the promise of God.”

- It came from a place of already receiving the promise of God.

- It came from knowing that He is a promise keeping God.

- So Joshua prayed for a miracle and of course God answered his prayer with a miracle.

- As believers, don’t let what you see on the outside stop you from praying for a miracle.

- Just because it’s impossible for you doesn’t mean it’s impossible for God.

- He is the Lord of the impossible!

- Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:7, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for…”

- We are also told in James 4:2, “…“You do not have because you do not ask God.”

- ‭‭So what is the request that you have been afraid to ask?

- What is your situation that completely needs the power of God to make it happen?

- Today, ask!

- Believe that God can do the impossible!

- And watch you sun stand still!
