“She said, “According to your words, so be it.” Then Rahab sent them off, and they departed; and she tied the scarlet cord in the window.” (Joshua 2:21 AMP)
- It’s Passover time. It’s time to remember the purpose of the lamb. We see it all throughout scripture.
- The spies, who came into Rahab’s house, had given her some conditions.
- These were conditions for her deliverance.
- If she followed this, her and her family would live.
- If not, they would face the same judgment as the rest of the People of Jericho.
- They told her, “When we come into the land, you must leave this scarlet rope hanging from the window through which you let us down. And all your family members—your father, mother, brothers, and all your relatives—must be here inside the house.” (Joshua 2:18 NLT)
- Sounds a little silly, doesn’t it?
- Hang this scarlet rope out your window?
- But that scarlet rope is a picture of the Passover lamb.
- Just as the blood of the lamb had to be placed on the doorposts of the Israelites house, in the same way, this scarlet rope had to hang from her window.
- It’s a picture of safety and deliverance.
- The scarlet rope is a type of Christ’s blood.
- The blood of the lamb that you can apply to your life.
- By faith, hang it out your window and you and your household live!
- What I think is interesting is that as soon as Rahab sends the spies off, what is the first thing that she does?
- Verse 21 say, “she tied the scarlet cord in the window.”
- She didn’t wait to obey.
- She didn’t hesitate...
- she didn’t put it off.
- Immediately, she did it!
- The end result? Rahab and he family was spared and all of the walls of Jericho came down!

- Partial obedience is disobedience.
- Become a person of conviction and act obediently and immediately.
- Step out in faith and trust God with the outcome!
