DEVO 03.27.24

DEVO. 03.27.24

”I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” (‭‭Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭47‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- In this story, this woman who had lived a sinful life brought an alabaster jar of perfume and poured the perfume on Jesus’ feet.

- Not only that, but she was weeping and she was wiping her tears with her hair on Jesus’ feet!

- This seems extravagant, almost to the point of ridiculous!

- It obviously made the Pharisee, whose house Jesus was at, uncomfortable.

- It was ridiculous and it was extravagant, but that’s the point!

- When was the last time that you expressed your love to Jesus in such a way that you were ridiculous?

- When was the last time that you wept over your sin and unworthiness and fell on your face in appreciation of His grace and love and mercy?

- When was the last time that you got on your knees in worship and adoration of the One who cleansed you of your sin?

- When was the last time that your worship of Jesus was so extravagant that it made people uncomfortable?

- When was the last time that you took inventory of all that you had been forgiven of and realized that your debt had been paid in full?

- Jesus said, ”I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” (V. 47)

- ‭‭Then He said, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” (V. 50‬)

- Her faith!

- What was the amazing faith that she possessed? She thanked Him!

- She humbled herself before Him!

- She valued Him!

- She poured out her love all over Him!

- Today, remember what you’ve been forgiven of.

- Take inventory.

- Then, extravagantly express your love back to the one who loved you first!

- Have a great Wednesday!
