DEVO 03.11.24

DEVO. 03.11.24

”And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him.“ (‭‭Mark‬ ‭15‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- The next time you don’t “feel like” worshipping the Lord, or you are bored with church.

- The next time that your Christian life feels “bland” or you become complacent in your faith.

- The next time your walk with Jesus no longer excites you, please, open your Bible and read through Mark 15.

- Read it slowly and absorb every bit of it.

- This is the story of Jesus expressing His love to you.

- He was mocked and ridiculed as they shouted, “Hail, king of the Jews!”

- It says, “Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff”.

- Not once, not twice, but over and over again.

- They spit in his face.

- They tried to completely humiliate him!

- Jesus was flogged with a lead-tipped whip.

- This was all before being stripped naked and having his hands and feet nailed to the cross.

- As Isaiah the prophet said in Isaiah 53:7, which was written about 150 years before Jesus was born, that “he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter”

- Romans 5:8 tells us that, “God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.“

- ‭‭while we were still sinners!

- When we were still his enemies!

- And through this very act, Romans 5:9 says, “we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.“

- ‭‭Take a moment and embrace the fact that Jesus went through the agony of the cross in order to make you right with God.

- He did this to offer you salvation.

- And although there may be days that you don’t “feel it”, you need to “know it”

- Know it, down deep inside, that your salvation came at a great cost!

- Know that you are loved by a Savior who paid the highest price.

- John 3:16 says, ”“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.“

- Today, remind yourself that you are loved!

- Have a great Monday!
