DEVO 02.28.23

DEVO. 02.28.23

“He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”” (Mark‬ ‭9‬:‭35‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- How easily we mess this one up!

- We are taught to seek importance by what we do and our accomplishments!

- We are taught to strive to be #1 in everything we do.

- Our motto is “First or nothing else”

- Jesus is talking to his disciples about importance.

- They had just been arguing about which one of them would be the greatest.

- You would think that you would know not to talk about that in front of Jesus! Ha!

- But here they are, walking with the one who “gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.” (Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬) ‭

- He did this voluntarily!

- He did this for us!

- He did this for the purpose of purchasing our salvation!

- He did for us, what we could not do for ourselves.

- We don’t deserve it and we certainly could not earn it!

- And Jesus says to them, and He says to us, if you want to be important, then make yourself unimportant.

- Learn to serve.

- Learn to recognize and put others ahead of you.

- Humility is the key to the kingdom!

- Jesus humbled himself and likewise, we need to do the same.

- Today, don’t try to push ahead of everyone else.

- Instead, push someone else ahead!

- Don’t try to be at the front, go to the back!

- Work hard at blessing someone else, today.

- Don’t worry if no one else sees it.

- God sees it, and that’s all that matters!

- The first will be last and the last will be first.

- It’s the way of the kingdom!

- “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.” (James‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ )

- It’s that simple!

- God bless you! Have a great Tuesday!
