DEVO 01.09.23

DEVO. 01.09.23

“When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”” (John‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

- One simple question!

- “Do you want to be made well?”

- You would think the answer would be just as simple, either “yes” or “no”.

- But it wasn’t that simple for this man who lay there discouraged and defeated.

- He had been this way for 38 years.

- He is labeled as a an invalid.

- We don’t even know his name but we know his condition.

- He is so identified with his condition that we know of him as “the man at the pool of Bathesda.”

- It’s a place where healings happened but they never happened for him.

- He is surrounded by the disabled, the blind, the lame and the paralyzed.

- He is full of disability and surrounded by sickness.

- And when Jesus asks him the all important question, “Do you want to be made well?”, his first response is not “yes” or “no”!

- It’s an excuse!

- Excuses will keep you from your healing.

- He said, ““I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”” (John‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- Do you notice that his first word was “I Can’t”!

- Be careful what you confess.

- I can’t, because...

- What is your “I can’t” this morning

- I can’t “because it’s raining.”

- I can’t “because I’ve got this condition.”

- I can’t “because the doctor said”

- I can’t “because of what they did or said to me.”

- Drop the “I can’t” and the “because”

- You excuse is no excuse to Jesus.

- He is your Healer!

- He is you Deliverer!

- He is your Hope!

- He is your Salvation!

- So today, Jesus says to you, “Do you want to be made well?”

- He doesn’t ask you to try harder or to try to make yourself well.

- The Maker speaks to that which is made and says, “Do you want to be made well?”

- Either you believe He can do it or you don’t but the response is yours.

- It’s either “Yes” or “No”

- In the story, Jesus said to him, ““Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”” (John‬ ‭5:8‬)

- He didn’t say, “Oh, I didn’t know that all that had happened to you.”

- He didn’t say, “Wow, they are a bad set of circumstances, sorry to hear that.”

- He simply said “Stand up”

- It’s the same thing that He says to you.

- “Stand up”

- Get off of your bed of excuses and “stand up”

- Break free from the complaining and “stand up”

- And the next word is, “Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking!” (John‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭NLT‬)

- Just like this man, today could be your Instance for you “Instantly”

- Today is your day to “Stand up” in faith and walk!

- Don’t respond with an excuse, instead respond in faith!

- Let your instantly start today!

- Have a great Monday!
