DEVO. 01.03.22

“So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- A goal is the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. - Have you set your goals? - The Apostle Paul said that his constant ambition was to be pleasing to Jesus in every way! - He knew what he was going after and what He was living for! - He talked about living for the life after this life! - He saw things from an eternal perspective. - His reality was heaven and living with the Lord! - That was real life! - He says, “God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord.” (2Corinthians‬ ‭5:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬) - According to research, less than 3 percent of Americans have written goals. - My thought is this, “If you don’t write down your goals then how do you know what you are going after?” - My second thought is “what are those goals based on? - Of those 3% of Americans who have written down goals, how sad if their goal is based on the wrong thing. - Is your goal based on the eternal or the temporary? - If your reality is heaven then that is what your goal should be based on. - That is what the Apostle Paul said that His goal was to please the Lord. - His goal was not based on people’s opinion - His goal wasn’t based on temporary success or money - He constantly thought “what would the Lord have me to do?” - Proverbs 16:3 says, “ Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].” - If you set your goal on the right thing, you have a better chance of reaching it. - Today, take some time to set goals and write them down but make sure they are set on the right thing. - May it be your goal to please him in every way! - Have a great Tuesday!
